Vivek Ramaswamy, the Indian descent biotech entrepreneur and Republican Presidential candidate, has sparked controversy with his remarks over racism in the USA.
During his appearance on NBC’s “Meet The Press”, Ramaswamy, replied to a question regarding the racially motivated violence in the country. He said that racism is being manufactured in the US in a way it perpetuates more racism.
It should be noted that on Sunday, a gunman killed three black people without any apparent reason. The attack has sparked discussions over racism, gun violence, law and order across the US.
Ramaswamy went on to say that current cultural practices are worsening the situation by establishing quota systems based on race that restrict access to goods and services on the basis of the color of skin.
Racism in the US has a long and dark history which always comes back in a different form. Whether the shootings or Ramaswamy’s remarks would produce any change in the positive direction or not, only time will tell.
