In a tragic incident, a Hyderabadi who went missing in the United States was found dead. The Indian consulate in New York confirmed the news.

Getting into details, Mohammed Abdul Arfath, aged 25, was missing for more than three weeks. According to his father Mohammed Saleem, they both last spoke on March 7. Later, his phone was switched off.

On March 19, Saleem got a call saying that his son was kidnapped by a drug-selling gang and was demanded a ransom of $1200.

After a thorough investigation by the local police, it was found that Abdul Arafath was dead. Announcing his death, the Indian consulate in New York tweeted, “Anguished to learn that Mr. Mohammed Abdul Arfath, for whom search operation was underway, was found dead in Cleveland, Ohio. Our deepest condolences to Mr Mohammed Arfath’s family.”

“@IndiainNewYork is in touch with local agencies to ensure a thorough investigation into Mr Mohammed Abdul Arfath’s death. We are extending all possible assistance to the bereaved family to transport his mortal remains to India. @IndianEmbassyUS @MEAIndia,” the tweet further read.
