H-1B workers and applicants are being hit with random Requests for Evidence (RFEs) from USCIS, sparking panic across the community. People are being flagged for “adverse information” and asked to update their address and biometric records.
One H-1B applicant shared his “unsettling” experience on social media after receiving an RFE in the mail. The notice read, “We have encountered potentially adverse information related to the beneficiary. In order to continue processing your application, we require an updated address for the beneficiary so that we may collect biometric data.”

The lack of clarity on what this “adverse information” actually is has left many applicants in a state of anxiety. Immigration lawyers suggest that this is a nationwide issue and advise applicants to hold off until USCIS clarifies the reason for this collection of personal data.
This could be a simple glitch or, it could signal a more aggressive crackdown, similar to what international students are experiencing. One thing is clear: authorities are leaving no stone unturned in making life difficult for immigrants, and this is just another step in that direction.
