The impact of the Israel-Palestine war can now be felt at far away places and by non participating nations. Some of the extremist groups like Houthis have extended support to Hamas in their fight against Israel. This is not just a moral support but the Houthis are targeting any commercial vessel believed to be linked to Israel. A Gabon owned oil tanker with 25 Indian crew members was the latest target of these terrorists in the Red Sea.
The oil tanker named MV SAIBABA was the target of a drone attack by the militants. The Houthis are allegedly backed by the Iranians and the US has accused Iran of directly targeting vessels. All the 25 crew members on the oil tanker are uninjured and safe.
When the vessel suffered the blow, it sent out a distress call to a US Warship present nearby. US Central Command responded and confirmed there were no injuries. This was the second attack by the militants on the same day.
Another vessel, M/V BLAAMANEN, which is a Norwegian flagged chemical/oil tanker reported a near miss by a similar drone attack. This is the 15th attack on commercial vessels by the Houthis after the conflict started.
