The Mahabharat is returning, this time powered by AI. Collective Media Network’s Historyverse and Prasar Bharti have announced an AI-reimagined version of the epic, bringing mythology and technology together like never before.

The series will premiere digitally on WAVES OTT on October 25. You can also watch it on Doordarshan every Sunday at 11 am starting November 2. The project promises a futuristic take on one of India’s greatest stories.

With this release, SS Rajamouli and Aamir Khan may have to rethink their Mahabharat dreams. Rajamouli has long planned a multi-part film franchise, while Aamir Khan once shared his vision of retelling the same mythological saga. This new show might delay or even shelve their plans.

Adding to the mix, Netflix has already launched its own mythological series Kurukshetra, also inspired by the Mahabharat. With multiple versions now in production, the legendary story seems to be entering a new era of digital and AI-driven storytelling.
