Aamir Khan has revived interest in his long-planned Mahabharata adaptation. He calls it the most important project of his life, describing it as a “yagna,” not just a film.
He has carried the idea for nearly 30 years and says the work has already begun internally. Though production hasn’t started, writing will begin soon. The script may take years given the story’s size and complexity.
Aamir compared the project to The Lord of the Rings, saying it will span multiple films. It might even have more than one director to capture the epic fully.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the scale will be unprecedented. He’s unsure if he will act, saying casting depends on the right fit for each role.
With its lessons on dharma, war, politics, and morality, the Mahabharata presents a huge storytelling challenge. Aamir’s spiritual approach and commitment could make this a landmark film for Indian and world cinema.
