OTT Playing Game with Fans? F1, Housefull 5, Maalik

Brad Pitt F1 Prime Video rental

Brad pitt’s F1 on Prime Video has sparked backlash after its release in a rental format. Viewers were excited to stream the film but grew frustrated when they found it available only for rent.

The sports drama F1, starring Brad Pitt, was launched on Prime Video as a rental release. Users pointed out that renting the film costs Rs 499, while it becomes available for Prime members to stream a month later.

Many users accused Prime Video of trying to earn extra profit from subscribers. They believe it is unfair to pay additional charges for newly released films, especially when those titles later stream as part of the membership.

This is not the first time Prime Video has followed this strategy. Housefull 5 was initially released as a rental before becoming available for streaming. Recently, F1 and Maalik were also launched in the same format.

The move has upset several Prime members, who feel they are being overcharged. It remains uncertain whether Prime Video will make changes to its rental model or continue with the same approach.
