The fans of House of the Dragon, a prequel series to the hit show Game of Thrones, have unveiled some new posters for the upcoming second season. The characters of the show include Princes Rhaenyra Targaryen, Prince Daemon Targaryen, Queen Alicent Hightower, and Ser Criston Cole, featured in the posters.
The posters also allude to the civil war coming to Westeros called the Dance of the Dragons that is a feud between two Targaryen branches over the next heir to the throne.
The first season of House of the Dragon, released in August 2022, was very successful, winning praise from both critics and viewers. The show chronicled the history and myths of the Targaryen dynasty that took place 200 years before the happenings of Games of Thrones and introduced us to the intricate and interesting characters who shaped the destiny of Seven Kingdoms. The visuals, costumes, and special effects made for a breathtaking view of the world of Westeros.
HBO CEO Casey Bloys has indicated that the second season of House of the Dragon will probably debut in early summer 2024. According to executive producer Francesca Orsi, the season will comprise eight episodes, two fewer than the first season, but it will have a more concentrated and intense storyline. In addition, there will be some new cast members such as Graham McTavish as Ser Harrold Westerling and Matthew Needham as Larys Strong.
