Disney Adds Hulu In Beta Testing

Disney Adds Hulu

A couple of weeks ago, news broke out that Disney acquired the remaining shares of Hulu, and it was just a matter of time for them to work together.

On the official home screen of Disney+, they have now added a sixth vertical option which reads ‘Hulu.’ However, this change is currently working under beta testing. The fully phased app will hit the market in March next year.

Disney is set to launch an enhanced Disney+ subscription, incorporating Hulu, following its acquisition of Comcast’s stake in Hulu. Priced at $10 monthly, $2 more than Disney+, the service offers a seamless experience with a dedicated “Hulu” button alongside other content categories.

Disney gained full operational control of Hulu in 2019.

In response to consumer demand for a more seamless experience, Disney is integrating Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ in the Disney Bundle.

This streamlining aims to simplify navigation between apps and reduce corporate expenses. Paramount Global has also adopted a similar strategy, combining Showtime and Paramount+ into a single service.

While Disney+ and Hulu will remain standalone services, a new “Hulu Hub” will be introduced, accessible through the Hulu tile. This hub will showcase content differently and emphasize parental controls, crucial for Disney’s family-friendly image, as Hulu includes adult-oriented series. Existing subscribers will be prompted to adjust content settings.
