Family Man 3 Backfires: Is Priyamani the Real Villain?

Family Man 3 feminism debate

The Family Man 3 has released on Prime Video, and viewers are discussing every part of it. The action, comedy and character dynamics have all become major talking points. Many appreciated the addition of Jaideep Ahlawat, though some felt he was underused. A few also felt that Manoj Bajpayee’s character appeared weaker at times.

Among all discussions, one topic has created a stronger debate. In this season, Srikant Tiwari’s wife Suchitra is shown in an extramarital affair. This has led some viewers to attack her character and claim that this is “what feminism does to women.”

These viewers argue that while Srikant protects his family and serves the nation, Suchitra was involved in an affair and also influenced the children against him. They say this reflects a “feminist society” where women are shown as being too independent, which they believe harms men.

They make similar criticisms about Zoya’s affair in the show. According to them, women in such stories are given freedom without consequences.

However, others disagree with this claim. They point out that Srikant himself represents a typical workaholic and emotionally unavailable Indian husband. While he had some good moments, he did not make a strong effort to repair the marriage or show genuine regret.

These viewers do not support cheating but feel that people are unfairly generalising all women based on one fictional character’s decisions. They say toxic masculinity plays a role in how quickly blame is shifted onto women whenever a female character acts independently.

They also question why men are often excused as “just being men” both on screen and in real life, while women face harsher judgment. They believe the storyline is shaped by writers and creators, and blaming all women for it is unreasonable.
