Team India’s injury list keeps getting longer, and now the questions are getting louder.
After another series of fitness setbacks, the BCCI is reportedly set to review the role of head physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain and the medical team.
But is the real problem one person, or is India’s workload management system failing?
Jasprit Bumrah is the latest big name to miss out after injury. Before him, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar were also ruled out, while Sai Sudharsan is still waiting for fitness clearance.
Once again, India are entering an important Test series without a full strength squad the growing injury list has also captain Shubman Gill.
Gill recently admitted it has become difficult to plan the playing XI when players keep picking up injuries before or during a series.
Reports also suggest the BCCI will review the role of the medical staff and the Centre of Excellence as concerns continue to grow.
The biggest question is whether players are returning before they are fully fit. Reports have raised doubts over the handling of players like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana.
At the same time, several senior cricketers are reportedly taking advice from experts outside the BCCI setup, raising more questions about the current system.
The review is no longer just about one physio. It is about whether India’s workload management is actually protecting players or pushing them back too early.
With the World Test Championship and the 2027 World Cup ahead, can India afford more injuries, or is it finally time for the BCCI to fix the system instead of just reviewing it?
