In a significant move to diversify its content library, SonyLIV is all set to launch its first-ever Malayalam original series, ‘Jai Mahendran,’ on February 9th.
The political drama, directed by Srikanth Mohan and created by National and State Award-winning filmmaker Rahul Riji Nair, promises to deliver an engaging narrative centered around the life of Mahendran, a cunning officer immersed in the intricate world of power dynamics.
The stellar ensemble cast, including Saiju Kurup, Suhasini, Miya, Suresh Krishna, Maniyanpilla Raju, Balachandran Chullikad, Vishnu Govindan, Sidhartha Siva, and Rahul Riji Nair himself, brings depth to the characters, making ‘Jai Mahendran’ a much-anticipated series for Malayalam language enthusiasts.
The show’s premise revolves around Mahendran, a shrewd officer who thrives on powerplay and influence within the system to achieve his goals. However, his world takes a drastic turn as he becomes a victim of the very powerplay he once mastered.
Faced with challenges to his freedom and ideologies, Mahendran concocts a plan to sabotage the system, aiming to safeguard his job and restore his reputation. The central question lingers: Will Mahendran succeed in executing his master plan?
Rahul Riji Nair, the driving force behind the series, expressed his goal of presenting a balanced portrayal of an officer’s life from diverse perspectives. He emphasizes the complexity of the system with its myriad regulations and power struggles at different levels.
