Mirzapur Bonus Episode Has Nothing Much To Entertain The Audience

Mirzapur 3

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic took over around the world, the statement became irrelevant when we said that only films have a huge fanbase in India. OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video became popular around eight years ago, starting with the premiere of Sacred Games in 2016.

However, the streaming platforms found their real audience in the next few years and things have remained the same since then. But when it comes to Mirzapur, we have to admit that there is hardly anyone who hasn’t watched the show. Even if someone has not seen it, they are familiar with the title.

The abuses, dialogues, and characters from the action thriller became a theme for different social media memes. The writers need to be appreciated for the same since they ensured to add unintentional comedy to certain sequences that audiences like to recall today.

Following an amazing response to the first season, Excel Entertainment decided to bring another installment, which also left a good impression. But as many people would agree, the third entry was not up to the mark, specifically because it lacked the intensity and brutality that we witnessed initially.

On top of everything, the absence of Munna Bhaiya (Divyendu Sharma) also disappointed everyone. Although the character was unfortunately killed in Season 2, fans were hopeful that the new one would cover up everything with a flawless screenplay.

The makers decided to take another chance by announcing a bonus episode a day ago. The glimpse featured Munna speaking to the camera, raising the expectations of his return. And that happened today. But the question is whether it can satisfy everyone. The answer is no.

Since it is a “bonus episode”, we expect something new and unique. What we get to see is the same old things being repeated. There is no action or violence, and the conversations are not interesting at all, despite that all of them are deleted scenes. They are the same things that we have seen throughout the third season.

A few examples of repetition? Robin and Dimpy trying to find new ways to get Ramakant Pandit out of prison, Guddu’s mother proudly calls her son the “Bahubali”, and Sharad Shukla and Madhuri Yadav planning new strategies to take their revenge.

However, two sequences stand out as the best. The first is a conversation between Radhiya and Tauseef, where the former offers a drink and Tauseef spits out the same. This is followed by Radhiya giggling uncontrollably. The next one is the mystery behind Golu’s escape from Shatrughan’s custody.

We see Munna Bhaiya narrating all these sequences. But what’s unique about it? Why a dead character was brought back for scenes that sum up to only 4-5 minutes? Only makers can answer that. Well, the public response is clearly saying everything. Moreover, the runtime is 25 minutes, which means there is less scope for entertainment.

As the ending of Season 3 confirmed the news, Mirzapur will soon return with a fourth season. But considering the reactions to the previous entry, the makers will have to work hard on the screenplay. Let’s wait and watch what Season 4 has in store for us.
