One of the controversial shows in the recent past, The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth premiered on Netflix today. The fact that CBI filed a case against the streaming of the film, given that the case is still pending in court, and later cleared the same has built some anticipation on the show.
The series debuted amidst some anticipation amongst the OTT crowd but it has opened to rather mixed reviews.
The main complaint about the show is that rather than clearing the doubts about the shocking murder of Sheena Bora, the daughter of Indrani, it raises more questions. Those who expected to get to know the main motive behind the murder that shook the nation are disappointed that this show doesn’t shed any light on this.
A few others are complaining that this show looks like a PR stunt that gives a platform to Indrani to tell her side of the story.
But at the same time, a few opine that the show competes the purpose of selectively presenting some of the facts pertaining to the case. Those who don’t know anything about the case can get to know some of the facts associated with the same.
The show portrays the cruel manner in which the murder was carried out. The cruelty factor is carried by the core conflict regarding the motive behind the murder isn’t fully explored.
The 4-episode series is streaming on Netflix now. Those who love murder mystery docuseries’ might give it a try but with limited expectations.
