If there’s something that an artist craves more than anything, it is the freedom to express. But just like everything else around us, freedom is not free and often conditional. One such condition that many filmmakers and creators might be obliged with is to be in agreement with an organization that regulates all audio-visual content in India including the OTT.
Save Culture Save Bharat Foundation has demanded setting up an umbrella organization that will monitor all available content in order to protect Indian culture. The outfit demands a ban on “sexually explicit content” and content that promotes “love jihad” and “false narratives” against India.
The foundation wants the production of “sexually explicit content” and “incestuous” content to be treated as “anti-national activity”. If implemented today, it would virtually make OTT the hotspot for anti-national activities.
An online Swachh Cyber Bharat Campaign was launched by the outfit at Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library. Uday Mahurkar started this campaign along with some other people.
The campaign demands strict punishments for anyone violating the rules. These punishments include imprisonment between 10-20 years with the onus of proof on the accused.
