Special Ops 2: JioHotstar vs Sony Liv OTT Clash?

Special Ops 2 Postponed

Fans of Special Ops will have to wait just a little longer to see Kay Kay Menon return as the steely R&AW officer Himmat Singh.

The highly anticipated second season of Neeraj Pandey’s espionage thriller, originally scheduled to release on July 11, has now been postponed by a week. The new premiere date is July 18, as officially confirmed by the makers.

While no formal reason has been provided for the delay, industry insiders suggest it could be due to ongoing post-production work or strategic timing.

With increasing competition in the digital space, OTT platforms often recalibrate release schedules to ensure maximum visibility and avoid overlap with other major content drops.

Another likely factor is the recent success of The Hunt: Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case, a Sony LIV original that has garnered critical acclaim and high viewership.

With audiences currently engaged with that gripping true-crime series, the Special Ops team may have opted to delay their release slightly to avoid splitting attention in an already crowded streaming landscape.

This new season marks a significant evolution in the storyline. While Himmat Singh remains at the center, the focus shifts from traditional field operations to the more complex realm of cyber warfare, surveillance breaches, and digital espionage.

Special Ops 2 will stream exclusively on JioHotstar, and will be available in multiple Indian languages. The ensemble cast includes Prakash Raj, Vinay Pathak, Karan Tacker, Saiyami Kher, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Muzammil Ibrahim, and Kali Prasad Mukherjee — ensuring a power-packed season of thrill and action.
