Tovino Thomas Led Anti-War Drama Sets OTT Date

Adrishya Jalakangal

Anti-war films have, over the years, secured a place among the best psychological films. However, the southern part of India presents one of its finest gems with Tovino Thomas leading “Adrishya Jalakangal,” a film that explores the impact of war on commoners.

Dr. Biju’s ‘Adrishya Jalakangal’ delves into societal power dynamics, depicting a marginalized group targeted by the government. The film unfolds with police rounding up the underprivileged, sending them to a seemingly oppressive psychiatric hospital. The arbitrary nature of admissions raises concerns about the abuse of power.

The narrative echoes the chilling reality where those deemed a ‘threat’ to the government face confinement under the guise of mental health issues, inviting parallels with contemporary issues. Besides all these, a movie where you don’t even know the names of the characters, a creative choice, of course, signifies how brilliant the emplotment really is.

Released on 24th November, the movie managed to collect praise but, in terms of finances, fell short. This has resulted in panic and a short theatrical run. Now, Netflix has emerged as the ‘savior,’ providing an online platform where people will be able to appreciate the beauty.

It will be released on Friday, 8th December, and if anti-war films and magic realism are your forte, then you need to stream ‘Adrishya Jalakangal.’ Click below to watch the trailer –
