In 2023, the OTT landscape saw a surge in big and popular titles. However, the question of streaming shows through fair or unfair means persists.
On paper, all streaming platforms, especially Netflix, Disney, and Prime, are experiencing significant growth. Yet, with increased internet accessibility comes the threat of piracy.
According to a report from a piracy website, Hulu’s “The Last Of Us” emerged as the most pirated show. Despite Hulu being part of Disney, their challenges persist, with four more shows in line to face similar issues.
“The Mandalorian,” “Loki,” “Ahsoka,” and “Secret Invasion,” belonging to the MCU and Star Wars Universe, made the list. Disney, despite having a massive fanbase, suffers due to piracy, especially among those seeking to catch up on MCU or Star Wars content.
Even Apple TV contributed to three of the remaining five shows. “Silo” claimed the sixth place, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” secured the seventh place, and the iconic series “Ted Lasso” rounded out the top eight.
Paramount’s “Tulsa King” also made the list as the eighth most pirated show, and Prime’s contribution from “The Boys” universe, “Gen V,” a crucial spinoff, secured the ninth place.
