Music has always played a crucial role in films, sometimes just as important as the film itself, if not more.
It went far beyond catchy melodies and groovy beats, often becoming an extension of storytelling, adding emotional depth and resonance to the narrative.
Not only that, but music also served as one of the most powerful promotional tools for films. Songs became so iconic that audiences started recognizing films by their music alone. Even if people didn’t watch the movie, they could still remember the songs if they made the right impact.
That’s why launching new stars in films with strong soundtracks is a smart move. Even if the movie doesn’t stick, the faces of the stars might stay memorable, thanks to the music.
Bollywood has successfully used this strategy in the past. Take Band Baaja Baaraat, for instance, where Ranveer Singh was launched alongside Anushka Sharma, who was still early in her career. Songs like “Ainvayi Ainvayi” and “Tarkeebein” were the perfect blend of fun and memorable, and even those who didn’t watch the film vibed to the music.
Similarly, in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra were introduced. The soundtrack perfectly captured the energy of youth, with peppy tracks like “Disco Deewane” and romantic numbers like “Ishq Wala Love” that encapsulated the feelings of young love.
Whether it was Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in Saawariya, Sushant Singh Rajput in Kai Po Che, or Ayushmann Khurrana in Vicky Donor, each of these stars made their Bollywood debut with films that had memorable, impactful soundtracks.
Now, following a similar formula, YRF is launching two new faces, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, with a film that’s being positioned as a music-heavy romantic drama.
Since the first track dropped earlier this month, the Saiyaara album has been on loop for fans everywhere.
The title track is a soulful ballad of heartbreak, setting the emotional tone of the film, while the newly released “Humsafar” wraps you in the warmth of a love that feels destined.
Will YRF’s gamble with this musical romance pay off like it did for so many others in the past, or will it fall flat? Only time will tell. Until then, fans are sure to keep streaming the music while they wait for more.
