August BO Clash: Will Akshay Show Sunny Who’s Boss?

Akshay Kumar Haiwaan Sunny Deol Lahore 1947 clash

It appears that another major box office clash could happen soon in Bollywood. Akshay Kumar‘s upcoming film Haiwaan is expected to release around the same time as Sunny Deol’s Lahore. Both films are reportedly targeting an August release window.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers of Haiwaan are planning for an August launch. The exact release date has not yet been confirmed. However, industry reports suggest that both films want to capitalise on the holiday season.

Trade experts believe Haiwaan could gain an advantage at the box office. They feel Lahore 1947, which reportedly focuses on the partition theme, may come across as too political or heavy for some viewers.

In contrast, Haiwaan is described as a suspense thriller. The film is expected to feature Akshay Kumar in a negative role, something fans have not seen from him in many years.

In recent times, several films have explored the India Pakistan conflict. Some analysts believe audiences may feel fatigued by repeated patriotic or war themed narratives.

Sunny Deol has often appeared in similar roles connected to the India Pakistan storyline. A recent example mentioned by observers is Border 2, which reportedly did not match the box office impact of Gadar 2.

Haiwaan also has a notable team behind it. The film features Saif Ali Khan and is directed by Priyadarshan. Industry watchers believe the combination could attract strong audience interest.

However, much may depend on the performance of Priyadarshan’s upcoming film Bhooth Bangla. If that film succeeds, it could indicate that audiences still enjoy his filmmaking style.

At the same time, Sunny Deol has often benefited from strong audience support in patriotic dramas. Whether Haiwaan gains the edge or Lahore surprises everyone will only become clear closer to release.
