It is common knowledge that the Bollywood superstar who is now famous as Akshay Kumar took on the stage name for his career in the film industry. His original name is Rajiv Bhatia and the down-to-earth actor recently revealed the reason behind this name change at a promotional event for upcoming film ‘Naam Shabana’.

The actor, who only has a small cameo appearance in the film as his character from ‘Baby’, recalled an interesting tale from down his memory lane when he was still a newbie. Akshay revealed that his first role was in a movie called ‘Aaj’ which also featured actor Kumar Gaurav. The name of the titular character was Akshay which was portrayed by Gaurav. Somehow the name had a lasting effect on him and without giving it much thought he “just went to the [Bandra east] court and got [his] name changed.”
That small role in the film made such a large impact on the actor who is now universally known as Akshay Kumar.
