Anurag Kashyap has spoken openly about his relationship with longtime partner Shubhra Shetty. The filmmaker shared his views on love, marriage and the challenges that come with their 20-year age gap. His candid comments have attracted attention on social media.
During a recent conversation, Anurag revealed that he and Shubhra have been together for nearly a decade. When asked about marriage, he said Shubhra does not believe in the institution of marriage. He added that being together matters more than giving the relationship a formal label.
Anurag also shared that his biggest concern as he grows older is staying healthy. He wants to spend more time with the people he loves. According to him, preserving the relationship they have built is more important than anything else.
The filmmaker also addressed the criticism surrounding their 20-year age difference. He admitted that he initially ignored the age gap but became more aware of it over time. He said the difference became more noticeable because Shubhra continues to look much younger than her age.
Shubhra Shetty was previously associated with Anurag Kashyap’s production company, Phantom Films, where she worked as an assistant director. The couple was first seen together publicly in 2015. Reports later suggested that their relationship became official in 2018.
Before meeting Shubhra, Anurag was married to editor Aarti Bajaj. The couple separated in 2009 after six years of marriage and have a daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap. He later married actor Kalki Koechlin in 2011, but they separated after four years.
Despite the highs and lows in his personal life, Anurag believes he has found lasting happiness with Shubhra. He says he values their relationship deeply and hopes to continue sharing that happiness for years to come.
