Romantic comedies, family dramas, and slice-of-life films—once Bollywood’s strengths—are now rare. Music, which used to be one of the strongest pillars, is also being sidelined. The industry once produced multiple hit songs per film. Now, films start without finalized scores, and music feels like an afterthought.

Another major problem is the growing influence of actors and their high fees. Many actors interfere in filmmaking, altering scripts to suit their image. Their fear of being overshadowed prevents multi-starrer films from being made.

The industry also suffers from excessive self-promotion. Fake box office numbers, corporate bookings, and paid media campaigns are used to build false hype. Social media overexposure has also reduced the star value of actors, making their big-screen presence less special.
To revive Bollywood, filmmakers need to focus on quality storytelling and honest filmmaking. Audiences still love good cinema, and the industry must work hard to win them back.
