Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for another round of local elections. After completing most municipal polls and the statewide MPTC and ZPTC elections, the government has now turned its attention to cooperative societies.
The State Cooperation Department has issued fresh guidelines to district officials to begin preparations for elections to Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS). Officials have been directed to prepare society-wise voter lists and identify polling stations across the state.
The department has also asked District Cooperative Officers to make arrangements for conducting the elections in a single phase. The preparatory work must begin immediately without waiting for the official election schedule or notification. The government has warned that any delay or negligence will be taken seriously.
Meanwhile, preparations are also underway to complete municipal elections in the remaining 23 places. The State Election Commission has started updating voter lists in these municipalities. If pending court cases are resolved in time, these elections could be held before December ends.
With most local body elections already completed, the government appears keen to finish the remaining polls, including cooperative society elections, before the end of 2026.
