Dhurandhar brings a harsh and direct view of violence that signals a shift in Hindi action cinema. The trailer left strong and disturbing images in your mind. The line between fiction and reality feels thin, and the scale of brutality stands out.
Arjun Rampal pushing needles into an Indian soldier, Akshaye Khanna smashing a man’s head, and Ranveer Singh firing at anything in his path show how far the film goes. These visuals set a new benchmark for Bollywood’s approach to violence on screen.
The trailer only gave a glimpse of what reaches theatres on December 5. Reviewers call it a spy thriller with a different tone, but many regular viewers disagree and see the violence as the driving force of the film.
Joginder Tuteja praised director Aditya Dhar for avoiding the usual fantasy of spies with neat gadgets and polished action. He said the film uses brutal real events and blends them with full-on masala energy to shape both heroes and villains.
This form of storytelling, where the lead embraces extreme violence to justify the character arc, has already appeared in films like Animal, Kabir Singh, and Chhaava. Bollywood now treats brutality as the core selling point rather than a supporting layer in the narrative.
This approach showed its limits with films like WAR 2 with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR or Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4. The action created excitement, but it did not leave viewers with any lasting emotional effect.
Some viewers argue that constant gore reduces sensitivity and pushes filmmakers to increase violence to get the same reaction. Insiders who watched the making of Dhurandhar say the blood on screen does not overshadow the drama and tension built into the story.
Even then, the trailer shows violence at the center while the story moves around it. Many believe that if the film succeeds, it will become a model for future action stories and shape the next wave of Bollywood action dramas.
Sources close to the film say Dhurandhar is worth the wait. Ranveer Singh returns to the big screen almost a year and a half after Rocky Aur Ranii Ki Prem Kahani with a sharp shift from lover boy to relentless killer.
Whether Dhurandhar changes the action genre or becomes another violence-heavy drama without depth will become clear after release. The film arrives on December 5 and is expected to be one of the strongest year-end launches.
