Opening day and opening week records are something that get beaten every now and then when a big hero film with right hype arrives. It’s the collections in latter weeks that remain unchallenged for years and 3 Idiots one film which has such records.

Apart from creating opening day and week records, 3 Idiots during its time went on to create a new record for every week of its run. It has been more than half a decade but no Bollywood film has been able to beat the numbers the film had put up from third week onwards.
Finally it took a Hollywood movie The Jungle Book to beat the fourth weekend record of 3 Idiots. Still it is doubtful if it will be able to beat the entire week record but nonetheless the weekend record itself is seen as a big achievement.
