Housefull 5 is all set to release on 6 June and with only a few days left, the early trends are dawning heavily on the makers. Sajid Nadiadwala’s production house will surely not be happy with the pre-booking despite trying all PR gimmicks and even giving the film alternate endings.
Kartik Aryan has taken the reins over from Akshay Kumar and given one of the biggest comedy franchise hits with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 that earned 35.5 crores. Housefull is a franchise that has done tremendously in the past but Akshay’s fading popularity is affecting it too, and fans are saying he might be afraid that Kartik would take over Housefull films in the future.
While at one point stats were predicting Housefull 5 might be one of the biggest comedy openers in a long time, it has become a tricky situation for Akshay as it might not even earn 20 crore in its opening. Despite the ensemble cast his efforts seem to have gone to waste.
Some biggest comedy openings in the past have been Stree 2 in number one with 53 crores and others like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Golmaal Again, Housefull 4, Good Newwz, Total Dhamaal and Ready ranging from 32 to 13 crores. The battle between box office rule has intensified between Akshay and Kartik, with the latter clearly taking over if Housefull 5 does not perform well.
