Harsh Truth for Sooryavanshi: Is GG Behind His Snub?

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's chances in India's T20I team

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has shown his talent at a young age, but finding a regular place in India’s T20I team remains a challenge.

Former India cricketer Murali Kartik believes the team management cannot keep changing its opening combination just to include another talented batter.

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have established themselves as opening options for India, while Ishan Kishan is also competing for a place.

With several players fighting for limited spots, Sooryavanshi may have to wait for a consistent run in the playing XI.

Murali Kartik believes the management needs to be honest with players about their roles instead of making changes simply because another option is available.

He also drew a comparison with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has faced limited opportunities in white ball cricket despite his batting ability.

Even if you have to give them the harsh truth, it’s better to give it to them. You might not like it it’s not palatable for a while, but it is what it is. You have to deal with it and move on, Murali Kartik said.

The decision also puts the focus on head coach Gautam Gambhir and the team’s selection plans. The management must balance giving young players opportunities with maintaining a settled combination, particularly when established batters are already performing.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s talent is not the main question. The challenge is finding a place for him in a competitive batting order. He will need to stay ready and make the most of his opportunities when they come.
