Spider-Man: Brand New Day has created records in India. The opening day gross collections were reported to be almost Rs. 73 crores, clearly stating that the movie has a good future at the box office.
Meanwhile, the success of a Hollywood superhero film has now once again brought Krrish 4 back in the limelight. Questions are being raised about the capability of Indian filmmakers, with people asking why the directors are not willing to explore the superhero genre in India.
While Telugu and Malayalam cinema have started exploring the genre with movies like Hanu-Man, Mirai, and Lokah, the ignorance of Bollywood directors has led to a lot of criticism. Most of them questioned why Krrish 4 has not been announced or entered production yet.
Hrithik Roshan’s fans have also been frustrated with his decisions to do films that are not expected to work at the box office. Most of them have frequently asked Hrithik to ensure that Krrish 4 goes on the floors as soon as possible. However, the actor is busy with other things like sharing opinions about certain things on social media, which has now frustrated his supporters.
Notably, Krrish 4 has the potential to take an opening similar to Spider-Man. There are multiple reasons for that. The technology has changed since 2013, which means that a lot of things can be explored on screen. Moreover, India now has premium format screens such as 4DX and IMAX, which means that the audience won’t want to miss the film at any cost.
Apart from all these, audiences want to see an Indian superhero taking down the bad guys on screen. It’s one of the reasons that movies like Hanu-Man have worked.
A few social media reactions featured users comparing the situation with Ramayana.
Most of them stated that if the same budget of Rs. 4,000 crores is invested in Krrish 4, the results are going to be much better than Hollywood and Bollywood can then create its own universe like the MCU and DCEU.
Some fans stated that if the original creators of the Krrish franchise do not have the capability to make the film, they should say it and allow some other production company to take over. Fans also expressed their frustration with the team working on Krrish 4, saying that they are just decreasing the interest in the film by making false promises over the last few years.
Trade experts also reacted by saying that it is a shameful thing because a Hollywood superhero film is doing business with numbers that actually belong to Krrish 4.
The success of Spider-Man has clearly started a new debate about Krrish 4 and the future of superhero movies in India. Let’s wait and see if Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan will consider the feedback seriously and make Krrish 4 for the audience.
