The dynamic duo of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol is coming back on the big screen after years, with Aamir Khan as the producer.
Rumors have it Aamir Khan is deliberately delaying the release of “Lahore 1947” so that it doesn’t clash with his upcoming movie “Sitaare Zameen Par”, with lack of evidence in this case we cannot fully confirm whether this is the real issue or not.
“Lahore 1947”, is a period drama set against the backdrop of India’s partition. The film follows a Muslim family’s migration from Lucknow to Lahore, and they encounter a hindu lady living in a mansion and with that the human connection between them and the narrative of the story unfolds.
Sunny Deol who plays the leading role in the movie showcased profound enthusiasm surrounding the movie, according to him, “I was hoping to do big films, and it’s happening now. Lahore 1947 is coming this year”.
Now, initially “Lahore 1947” was set to release on Republic Day, but it got pused towards the Independence Day, which resonate with the film’s partition-era theme.
On the other hand, “Sitaare Zameen Par”, directed by R.S. Prasanna and featuring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, is scheduled for release on June 20, 2025, which is follow up of Khan’s “Taare Zameen Par”, which is based on the nuanced point of life, a completely different story from “Lahore 1947”.
So, releasing “Lahore 1947” during the time of Independence day seems like a calculated decision, where the appel for a movie like this will emerge in the audience.
Both films are poised to offer unique cinematic experiences, and their staggered releases may allow audiences to appreciate each without the pressures of a direct box office clash.
