Even years after his death in 2017, legendary actor Om Puri is still making headlines. Recently his first wife Seema Kapoor spoke about their relationship in an interview with Siddharth Kannan.
Kapoor revealed that just before their wedding in 1989, Puri told her about his affair with their maid. This was in a private conversation by the river and Kapoor was shocked.

By then the invitations had already gone out and the wedding was to take place in a small town where her family was very respected. She couldn’t cancel the wedding at the last minute.
Looking back at the incident, Kapoor said she was annoyed by Puri’s timing, adding that prior disclosure may have provided her with greater clarity. She said, “This is how a feudal male mind works; they try to gaslight you into thinking they’ve been honest and given you agency.” She conceded, though, that Puri was not someone who played games of the mind.

Kapoor concluded that were she presented with such a scenario today, she would not have gone through with the marriage.
