YSRCP Leader Wins ZPTC Election from Jail, Goes Viral

Kammireddy Satyanarayana Reddy ZPTC Win

Andhra Pradesh’s latest ZPTC and MPTC election results have produced several surprising stories. While the TDP-led alliance continued its winning run across the state, the YSRCP managed to retain the Zilla Parishad in Alluri Sitarama Raju district. However, one result has attracted particular attention. A YSRCP leader who has been in judicial custody for over a month has won the ZPTC election without stepping out of prison.

Kammireddy Satyanarayana Reddy, former Nellore DCCB chairman, contested the ZPTC election from Pellakuru mandal in Tirupati district while lodged in Nellore Central Jail. He is currently facing remand in connection with an attempted murder case.

Despite being behind bars for nearly 40 days, Satyanarayana Reddy secured a convincing victory. He defeated his TDP rival Shirasanambeti Chaitanya Krishna Reddy by a margin of 1,719 votes. His victory has since become a talking point on social media.

With the candidate unable to campaign personally, his wife Kammireddy Prabhavathamma and daughter Kammireddy Rajani took charge of the election campaign. They reached out to voters and sought support for him across the constituency.

The wider election results also reflected the TDP-led alliance’s strong performance. While the alliance swept most municipal elections, it maintained its dominance in the ZPTC and MPTC polls as well.

Meanwhile, the focus in Nellore district has shifted to the formation of the Zilla Parishad leadership. With the alliance winning most of the local body seats, the race for the Zilla Parishad chairperson’s post has become the next major political development to watch.
