Paresh Rawal, famous for his role in Hera Pheri, is now in the middle of controversy over his upcoming film The Taj Story. The actor shared a motion poster where he pulls out an idol of Lord Shiva from the dome of the Taj Mahal.
The short teaser went viral and angered many online users. Trollers accused Rawal of supporting old claims that the Taj Mahal was once a Hindu temple. Critics questioned why filmmakers create stories that openly risk fuelling communal clashes.
As backlash grew, Rawal deleted the original post and shared a statement from the film’s producers. The team clarified that the film does not deal with religion or temples but focuses only on historical narratives. They urged people to watch the film before judging.
Despite the explanation, the teaser’s imagery has not gone down well with fans. Many argue that even the promo is provocative enough to spark trouble. Some said they lost respect for Rawal for choosing such a project.
Fans compared The Taj Story to films like The Bengal Files and The Kashmir Files, which they believe were propaganda-driven. Many feel such films do not aim to create art but to spread hate and profit from controversy.
