
Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana is being touted as a visual extravaganza, with cast and crew-including Kunal Kapoor (Indra Dev)-promising a scale “nobody has seen before.”
Producer Namit Malhotra and even Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have praised the film’s technological prowess and global ambitions, fueling sky-high expectations for the Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, and Sunny Deol starrer.

But such over-the-top claims are nothing new. Only two years ago, Adipurush was hyped in a similar manner, only to turn into a cautionary story. Even with a huge budget and starry cast, Adipurush flopped miserably in terms of receiving poor VFX, lackluster performances, and dialogues that didn’t resonate with the audience.
The criticism was so severe that it ignited controversy regarding the misrepresentation of saintly characters and the dilution of Hindu sentiments. This background is why most fans and industry observers are cautioning against optimism.

As one critic puts it, “We should not trust the actors and the team until we see some footage of the movie.” The coming 2-minute-36-second teaser, rated “U,” is likely to show either real film footage or simply a lengthy title reveal. Also, the BGM by A.R. Rahman will also have a crucial impact on the teaser.
The reaction to this teaser may seal the fate of the film. Until then, it’s best not to get carried away by promises. Let the visuals speak for themselves before falling for the hype.
