Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, will not have any songs. This will be a completely different take on a film based on Ramayana, considering that most of them have featured soundtracks with multiple singles.
The upcoming magnum opus will include only bhajans and shlokas that would be blended with the flow of the main storyline. Notably, A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer are composing the music, with lyrics written by Dr. Kumar Vishwas.
The absence of a soundtrack is not expected to leave a negative impact on the film unless the content is not up to the mark. It seems like Nitesh Tiwari has added elements where audiences won’t feel the absence of songs, and they will simply focus on the events that are happening on screen.
On the other hand, songs usually contribute to the success of a film. In case the makers of Ramayana are willing to attract audiences generally without taking the help of songs, they have to create the best promotional material to ensure that people are not disappointed.
People’s main focus will be on the dialogues, the looks of the characters, and the authenticity. The makers have to ensure that they don’t repeat the mistakes made in Adipurush by taking cinematic liberty for certain sequences.
However, the background score has to be impressive enough at the same time so that audiences get a different kind of experience.
In case the makers can fulfil the requirements, as mentioned above, the absence of songs won’t bring any issues.
However, a film is usually rememebered by its songs, irrespective of the content. So in that case, the plan of the makers might backfire in terms of Ramayana. Although Adipurush was a disaster, Ajay-Atul’s good music is the reason why certain songs from the film are played today in different festivals.
Audiences are expecting a lot from Ramayana, based on the rumors that have been going viral about the budget and the glimpse that was released a few days ago.
Let’s wait and see if Ramayana can leave a huge impact on the hearts and minds of the audience and at the box office.
