Superstar Salman Khan has landed in a fresh legal controversy, this time over an advertisement for a “pan masala” brand he endorsed. A consumer court in Kota, Rajasthan, has issued notices to both Salman and the company, following allegations that the commercial was misleading.
The complaint was filed by senior BJP leader and advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey. He alleged that the advertisement claimed the product contained “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala.” He argued that this is unrealistic because saffron costs around Rs 4 lakh per kilogram and cannot logically be used in a product priced at just Rs 5.
The petition also stated that such advertisements encourage younger audiences to consume harmful products, increasing the risk of oral cancer and other health issues. The complainant stressed that celebrities like Salman, who hold strong influence in society, must make responsible choices while endorsing brands.
The court has directed Salman and the manufacturer to respond in the next hearing, scheduled for November 27, 2025. Social media opinions on the matter are divided. Some users feel celebrities must endorse responsibly, while others believe the government should ban harmful products instead of blaming actors.
As of now, neither Salman nor the brand has issued a public statement and is expected to respond through official legal proceedings.
