Disney’s Big Slate For 2024

Disney Deal

Disney didn’t really have their fairytale ending this year, as their last two projects, Wish and The Marvels, fell flat. Wish was indeed incomplete, and The Marvels was practically stale, creating a dent in the golden Disney palace.

They just announced their plans for 2024, and it doesn’t look like the most interesting slate. Even the rumored “Star Wars” series “Andor” went missing from the list and will seek a 2025 release.

Some shows already have release dates:

– January 10th: Marvel’s Echo (Disney+)

– April 5th: The First Omen (Theatrical)

– May 24th: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (Theatrical)

– June 14th: Inside Out 2 (Theatrical)

– July 26th: Untitled Deadpool Film (Theatrical)

– August 16th: Untitled Alien Event Film (Theatrical)

– Fall 2024: Marvel’s Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (Disney+)

– November 8th: The Amateur (Theatrical)

– December 20th: Mufasa: The Lion King (Theatrical)

Some Disney shows are still waiting for a release date:

– Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda (animated series)

– Star Wars: The Acolyte

– Star Wars: The Bad Batch S3 (animated series)

– Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

– Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi S2 (animated series)

– X-Men ’97 (animated series)

– Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (animated series)

There is also a lack of original projects in this slate, which shows why people are feeling hit by Disney monotony.

In 2023, Disney released 12 films, but their 2024 slate consists of only 7 movies, spanning Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios. Notably, the lineup comprises one Disney, one Marvel, and one Pixar film, with the majority (four) belonging to 20th Century Studios. Six are franchise entries, and one is an original adaptation of a classic novel.
