Finally DC Saved From Ultimate Embarrassment

Blue Beetle DC SavedBlue Beetle did indeed give DC a panic attack, but it at least collected a considerable number at the box office. As of this weekend, the DC film has collected $5M worldwide, pushing it ahead of the $100M mark.

The film now sits at $101.9M, and since it holds a higher production cost than Oppenheimer, the film won’t make any profits.

Even in terms of the opening week, it couldn’t have been any worse, starting with a $25M collection worldwide. Regarding the domestic week, it has been a story of monotony. Though international stats helped push the numbers a bit, it wasn’t enough to leave a prominent mark.

Now, this marks the penultimate point in the old DC universe, and the entire thing will wrap itself up with the Aquaman movie. Releasing a film like this during a period of uncertainty was undoubtedly a bold move by DC. Even though it didn’t pan out financially, it exceeded the projected numbers.

In terms of ratings and reviews, it was overall positive from viewers, but for understandable reasons, Blue Beetle didn’t appeal to the masses. And that is reflected in the economic numbers. Nevertheless, one thing is clear: it spared DC from both financial and quality-related embarrassment.
