Kung Fu Panda 4 is still the biggest movie at the box office. After grossing $278 million from international markets and $173 million in local theatres, the film has now crossed the $450 million mark worldwide.
Kung Fu Panda 4 has made $173 million in domestic theatres and $278 million from overseas regions thus far, with $5.5 million coming from local sales and $25 million from 81 abroad markets.
In addition, the film made its digital debut. It is still among the top five domestic releases and is probably going to cross the $200 million mark before its run ends.
The movie tells the story of Jack Black’s “Dragon Warrior” panda Po as he sets out on a daring journey throughout China to foil The Chameleon, a new, shape-shifting bad guy. A budget of less than $100 million was used to develop Kung Fu Panda 4, adhering to current standards in feature animation.
Prior to the pandemic, studios would usually spend between $130 million and $150 million on animated films, which is what the previous editions of the series would have cost.
