Two new films for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean property are in the works: a reboot directed by Jeff Nathanson and a female-led spinoff starring Margot Robbie.
The Lion King remake and the iconic Disney theme park ride serve as the inspiration for Jeff Nathanson’s revival. Disney is eager to produce the Margot movie, according to Bruckheimer, who also confirmed that both films are in development.
The reboot’s script by Nathanson is regarded as flawless and features an incredible third act. But before the third act can be finished, the first and second portions must be cleaned up.
According to Bruckheimer, Jeff Nathanson, the writer of Pirates of the Caribbean, will pen the entire series relaunch. Nathanson “cracked” the new film’s plot; he also authored Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017.
Nathanson has a “amazing third act,” according to Bruckheimer, but the first and second acts must be finished before the third act is released.
Dead Men Tell No Tales, the final film in the series, had similar problems but was less bloated. It’s unclear if Robbie will be returning to Pirates of the Caribbean or not.
