Dwyane Johnson’s Christmas movie Red One just dropped its trailer, and the Christmas spirit is looking strong with this one. While the movie is nearly a year late, courtesy of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, the movie has held strong in creating its own buzz amidst all the controversy surrounding it.
The trailer introduces us to our lead characters. Dwayne is playing Callum Drift, who seems to be the bodyguard and PA of J.K. Simmons Saint Nicholas. The movie is centered on the abduction of Saint Nicholas and thus the Christmas is in Danger. To track down Santa Claus Jacqueline Frost played by Lucy Liu brings in one of the best trackers in the world, Jack O’Mailey played by our beloved Captain America, Chris Evans who is on Santa Claus’ Naughty List. The dynamic duo of Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans comes out strong. The movie looks promising and keeps the Christmas spirit full throttle while keeping the mythos intact with Krampuses, Snowmen and Jack O’Lantern. Will Callum and Jack be able to secure Christmas. We will see just that in “Red One”.
The movie had enough controversy surrounding it. Allegations of Dwayne Johnson’s lack of professionalism persisted throughout the production. So much so that it cost the production over $50 million due to The Rock’s behavior. Still, the buzz remains high; however, the movie is not coming out until November 15, 2024, which makes it quite odd that the trailer is already out. Still, the movie, despite its controversies, looks like the perfect Christmas extravaganza.
