Contaminated water, overflowing drains, defective pipelines, battered roads and piles of garbage are the major problems encountered by citizens of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). While all these problems remain unattended making a mockery of the great city, Corporators of the city are spending 1.50 Crore (80000 each) towards study tours to identify the solutions of this problems.
Most of the corporators take up air travel and 5 star accommodation along with their spouses. They are required to submit a report of their observations but most of those submitted are irrelevant and for namesake. And some of the reports are submitted from the old projects readily available on internet. So, on the most occasions, the reports seem to be all same. The Lokayukta is serious on this wastage and sought explanations from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation as to how the earlier trips helped in developing the city.
