Over the last two days, social media has been flooded with speculation that Allu Arjun’s much-discussed AA23 with Lokesh Kanagaraj might get shelved or delayed indefinitely. The rumors gained traction after several social media handles amplified the claims, leaving fans confused about the project’s status.
However, according to reports from Chennai film circles, there is no truth to the cancellation rumors. Sources indicate that the project remains very much on track, and no major changes have taken place regarding the collaboration between Allu Arjun and Lokesh Kanagaraj.
The confusion appears to have stemmed mainly from scheduling issues. Allu Arjun is currently busy shooting Raaka, while Lokesh is occupied with the post-production and promotions of his upcoming film DC. Amid these commitments, speculation about AA23 quickly spread across social media.
Industry insiders say Allu Arjun is yet to complete the full script narration process. However, that is reportedly a matter of timing rather than any creative disagreement. Both the actor and director remain committed to the project.
The film is particularly important for Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is looking to bounce back strongly after the mixed response to his recent films. A collaboration with a pan-India star like Allu Arjun offers him an opportunity to deliver a major nationwide blockbuster, making it unlikely that he would let the project slip away.
Meanwhile, attention has also shifted to Raaka, Atlee’s ambitious fantasy spectacle starring Allu Arjun. While shooting is progressing steadily, there is still no clarity regarding the release date.
The film reportedly involves extensive VFX work, with multiple international studios handling different portions. A significant part of the shoot is also pending, while Atlee is said to be taking extra care to ensure top-quality visual output.
Deepika Padukone has already joined the project, and more actresses playing key roles are expected to come on board soon. According to industry buzz, completing the film by the end of this year would itself be considered a major achievement given its scale.
That could make a Summer 2027 release difficult. The period is already expected to feature major releases, including Prabhas’ Spirit and Mahesh Babu’s film with SS Rajamouli. Industry observers feel Raaka would benefit from avoiding direct competition with such massive projects.
The film also carries the inevitable burden of comparisons with Rajamouli’s larger-than-life spectacles because of its scale, fantasy setting, and visual ambition. As a result, the makers are reportedly being extremely cautious throughout production.
