Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Bholaa Shankar is releasing in a few hours from now. Directed by Meher Ramesh, the film is a remake of the 2015 Tamil hit Vedalam.
It is now evident to everyone that remakes aren’t working at the box office in the post-pandemic world due to the audience’s exposure to various language content available at their fingertips on OTT.
Bholaa Shankar has sparked off never-before discussions about remakes. Social media has gone into overdrive with debates on whether remakes must be attempted or not. These talks have even spread to the offline audience, who, most of the time, don’t have any clue about what’s happening on social media.
All the credit for Bholaa Shankar becoming a hit or not at the box office will go to none other than Chiranjeevi, which is too much of a responsibility for even a Megastar like him.
No maker or actor wants to invite such unnecessary discussions about their film and keep defending their choice at every event. Irrespective of Bholaa Shankar’s box office fate, it is safe to assume that no big filmmaker or actor would attempt a remake again. It might be the last of the remakes, hopefully!
