After the Akhanda 2 disaster, director Boyapati Srinu is now under pressure to lock his next project quickly. The biggest challenge, however, is that none of the top stars are currently free, and the result of Akhanda 2 has clearly affected his market position.
Earlier, reports strongly suggested Boyapati might reunite with Allu Arjun. But that speculation did not hold for long. Allu Arjun has a packed lineup of big pan India commitments, and given Boyapati’s recent form, a collaboration at this stage looks impractical. From Allu Arjun’s perspective, taking on a director who is struggling to deliver a hit would be a risky move.
Still, Boyapati is not someone who will give up easily. Recently, he travelled to Mumbai, as there were speculations about his movie with Ranveer Singh. However, that was not the real reason for the visit. Boyapati actually went to meet Allu Arjun, who is currently shooting in Mumbai for Atlee’s film.
Unlike earlier, when Boyapati had only pitched a basic storyline, this time he narrated a complete script, detailing the character arc, the emotional beats, and even the hero’s look and getup. According to sources, Allu Arjun genuinely liked the story. However, liking a script and committing to a film are two very different things. With long term projects already locked, the chances of this collaboration appear very slim as of now.
Meanwhile, Boyapati is also working on another script with Rana Daggubati in mind. Compared to Allu Arjun or Ranveer Singh, Rana seems like a far more realistic option at the moment. Known for experimenting with intense and unconventional roles, Rana is reportedly looking for strong character driven films. If he agrees, this project could move forward without much delay.
In short, while Boyapati Srinu has not given up hope on Allu Arjun, his immediate future may well depend on whether Rana Daggubati okays his script. If he delivers a big success with Rana, then Allu Arjun may once again consider Boyapati in a serious way.
