mass-jathara-vs-vishwambhara

Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara has officially postponed its release from May 9 to July 18. The move was a calculated one — aimed at avoiding a direct clash with Pawan Kalyan’s period epic Hari Hara Veera Mallu.

But the shift has now sparked fresh buzz in Tollywood. Reports suggest that Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara is targeting a July 24 release — just a week after Mass Jathara.

Though not a direct clash yet, this close window has sparked discussions in and outside the industry. Trade circles are concerned about a potential split in collections and screen space.

Directed by debutant Bhanu Bhogavarapu, Mass Jathara features Ravi Teja in a new avatar as an RPF officer in a mass entertainer mixed with family drama.

Backed by Sithara Entertainments, it reunites Ravi Teja with Sreeleela after their hit Dhamaka. Netflix is reportedly in talks for digital rights.

On the other hand, Vishwambhara, helmed by Bimbisara director Vassishta, is a fantasy action film that was originally slated for Sankranti. However, the makers pushed it to July for improved VFX, especially after the teaser met with a disastrous response.

With Chiranjeevi aiming for a rich, visual spectacle and Ravi Teja banking on mass appeal, the stage is set for a possible box office face-off.

But here’s the reality: Ravi Teja, currently in a low phase with back-to-back flops, cannot afford even a soft clash — let alone going head-to-head with Chiranjeevi or Pawan Kalyan.

His films need a free run of few weeks and a strong word of mouth to survive. Even a one-week-gap release like Vishwambhara can severely dent Mass Jathara’s chances at the box office.
