Washington Sundar could be available for India’s upcoming three match T20I series against Afghanistan after reportedly being declared fit.
According to a reports Sundar has recovered from his injury and is available for selection. India will face Afghanistan in New Delhi from September 13.
Sundar’s return is a boost for India, with the team looking to strengthen its squad for the series.
The all rounder had earlier missed the third ODI against England after picking up a leg injury during the second ODI in Cardiff.
He was then ruled out of India’s two Test series in Sri Lanka. Sundar was later included in the squad for the Afghanistan T20Is, but his participation was dependent on his fitness.
His last T20I appearance came against Ireland in Belfast in June. Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the Afghanistan series is still not confirmed.
The pacer is yet to complete his match simulation and is expected to do so by September 9.
The BCCI will take a final call on his selection after assessing his fitness. Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy are also waiting for their final clearance.
Both players have completed their fitness tests and match simulations but have not yet received the final approval. Their fitness reports are expected by September 9 evening.
India have selected a strong squad for the Afghanistan T20Is after a poor run in the format.
The team lost six T20Is in a row during the series against Ireland and England. Hardik Pandya remains unavailable after suffering a leg strain during the IPL earlier this year.
With Sundar reportedly fit, India could have another important all round option available for the three match series.
