Though the producers and the filmmaker removed the posters on High Court Order in response to a public interest litigation, a fresh case is said to be filed against the producer, director and Vijay, demanding to pay Rs. 10 crore each for propagating smoking and influencing youth with the smoking poster. The punishment money will go to the Cancer Institute, Chennai.
Cigarette smoking is injurious to health and they have a point if they want the celebrities to be responsible. Though there are many laws against promoting smoking and alcoholism, the creative independence of the filmmakers makes them forget the ethos. Well, let’s wait and see if the leading team of ‘Sarkar’ has to pay the fine.
