Ever since KA became a surprise hit, Kiran Abbavaram has been making bold promises before every release.
During the promotions for KA, he confidently declared that if the film failed to impress audiences, he would stop making films altogether. The gamble paid off, and KA emerged as the biggest grosser of his career.
Before K-Ramp, he once again made a strong promise. He urged audiences to come to theatres, laugh wholeheartedly, and forget all their worries. While the film largely delivered on that promise, its box office success remained limited.
Now, ahead of Chennai Love Story, Kiran is raising expectations even higher. He says the film will leave audiences in a trance and offer a love story unlike anything seen on the big screen in recent times.
His confidence is certainly admirable, but it also comes with risk. The more an actor promises before a release, the higher the audience’s expectations become. If the film lives up to the hype, such statements only strengthen the star’s image. But if it falls short, the same words often return as trolling material on social media.
Kiran has successfully backed his confidence once with KA. K-Ramp partly justified its promise. The big question now is whether Chennai Love Story will make it three in a row or whether, this time, his bold claims will come back to haunt him.
