Bholaa Shankar now stands as a massive disaster, haunting all parties involved, especially producer Anil Sunkara, who’s dealing with substantial losses.
However, a significant section of ardent Chiranjeevi fans refuses to acknowledge any flops for the Megastar. This stance contributes to wrong feedback and leads to his recent subpar films.
They firmly believe certain media outlets unfairly rated Bholaa Shankar. When such a colossal failure emerges from a star like Chiranjeevi, what else can the media report?
They strongly believe that Chiranjeevi is helping directors, technicians, and small cast under the guise of ‘Upaadhi Haami Padhakam’ (meaning Chiru offers chances charitably).

Firstly, he collaborated with VV Vinayak, who had delivered a blockbuster for him in the past, like Tagore. What favor did Chiru bestow upon Vinayak when he chose to work with him on Khaidi No. 150 ? Vinayak was a surefire bet then, capable of crafting a secure comeback film for him, and he delivered it.
Chiru tried to create an epic with director Surender Reddy for Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Surender Reddy was already a proven director by that time. He had delivered two solid blockbusters ( Kick and Race Gurram ) and two hits ( Athanokkade and Dhruva ). So where’s the notion of favoring Reddy here?
Then came Acharya. Until Acharya, director Koratala Siva hadn’t experienced a single flop. Who extended work under the ‘Upaadhi Haami Padhakam’ here?
His subsequent project was Godfather, directed by a proven filmmaker known as the ‘Remake Raja’ for his success in executing numerous remakes.
Even though Waltair Veerayya was a cringe-worthy film, not up to the Megastar’s standards, it succeeded commercially due to seasonal advantages. Hence, fans never complained about this project.
When it comes to Bholaa Shankar, is Meher Ramesh in a position to dictate anything? Returning after a 10-year hiatus, the fact that Chiranjeevi offered him a film is significant in itself. Can Meher select a 2015 remake and force Chiru into committing to it? Chiranjeevi himself elaborated on how he was deeply involved in directing Bholaa Shankar on the sets.
It is funny to read comments from some Chiranjeevi fans seeking sympathy, suggesting that Megastar should stop offering the ‘Paniki Aahara padhakam scheme’ to directors and technicians. Does it hold any sense at all?
Chiranjeevi films can not be made in big budgets like young stars as he commands only Regional market. With non-theatrical rights and his theater market, he can only collect around ~ 100 Crore. Chiranjeevi is charging around 50-65 Crore since his comeback. The remaining budget has to be really tight so that the producer is safe. So he can only use the directors who will come for very less. Hence the less-popular and out-of-form directors. But it is no charity.
Failures of Chiranjeevi is mainly because of his choices like remakes, cringe content, etc. That should change immediately. If fans hide the real problem behind directors, the flops will continue.
